So I noticed when I occasionally don't use my bipap I dream. But never when I use my machine. I wake up feeling just the same either way. Unrested, still exhausted but was wondering why that is.

We remember our dreams only if we wake up right after them. Not remembering a dream is no indication there was no dream-- only that our sleep was interrupted.

Because, as the frog says, your sleep is being interrupted and fragmented more when you're not using your machine than when you are, and you're being waked during the dreams by your apneas.

The brain can't form memories while asleep, to remember a dream, you have to be roused from sleep either during or immediately after the dream, otherwise it fades away within minutes.
