I recently did an in home Embletta Sleep Report from Practical Sleep Solutions. The interpretation was moderate OSAS with an AHI of 16.8 per and mild O2 desaturations. The recommendation (not prescription) for me is a RESMED AIRSENSE 10 APAP machine. This is a private company and they don't work through insurance. The cost is roughly $957 with humidifier, tubing, case and swift mask. I went the home sleep study route because the wait to see a DR was nearly two months out. My question for you all is should I go at this alone without a DR and without ongoing monitoring from a Dr? Do I really need a machine with moderate AHI? I'm new to this and the APAP machine sounds like it auto adjusts. Just looking for overall advice and to see if I should wait it out two months and see a DR? Thank you in advance.

PAP Mask: Practically tried them all.
PAP Machine: Use Phillips Respironics System One APAP with Aflex for mask testing
Humidifier: None
Pressure Setting: When testing, I use APAP with a range of 5-10

"Run of the mill" OSA can be treated and managed by oneself. Something that is a little more complicated like Bilevel or ASV is usually better to go through a physician specializing in sleep medicine.

As of this writting the resmed is $572 complete with humidifier and hose on Amazon. A mask would be $60 or more depending on which one you get.

A respironics dreamsation would be roughly the same. Good machine too.

Links for this stuff come and go on Amazon.

Thank you both. One night down. A little rough, I only managed 3.5 hours with the nose pillows but my report only showed 2.2 events per hour. I’m guessing this will take a few weeks to get used to.
