I was told to use distilled water for the humidifier chamber in my CPAP machine. Would the 3M water filter on my kitchen sink provide safe enough water?

The main (and possibly only) reason distilled water is recommended is to avoid a mineral deposit forming inside the tub. If you live in a high calcium area distilled water is probably best. On the other hand use tap or filtered water and wash & dry the tub regularly. Occasionally an extra wash with vinegar might be necessary.

I take the view that if the water is.good enough to drink it's good enough to use in the machine.

You can use any drinkable water, tap, bottled or? Distilled water will reduce cleaning time.

Yep, if you can drink it, you can humidify with it. Some like myself have harder water at the home tap. It only means you may need to clean the humidifier tub a bit more frequently. But these tubs are to be replaced every 6 months according to Medicare scheduling. A little secret; my original ResMed tub from 4 years ago still works fine. While it isn't showroom shiny, it doesn't leak water or air out the top. And I only semi-retired it as family grabbed a new tub for me when I was in hospital for pneumonia last July.

Thanks, that saves me from hauling those gallons of distilled water. My water is high quality where I live.

It should be just fine then. Rinse the tub at the interval you feel comfortable with, daily, every other, whichever. Dump the water out reasonably frequent and refill with fresh water.
