Hello all. I feel the need to vent.

I'm honestly feeling overwhelmed for the first time in my life. I've been answering fewer questions here for numerous reasons, but mostly because my son made the All Star baseball team this year and I was asked to coach...which I accepted. Practices and games are practically every day in preparation for the state tournament. It's actually keeping me up at night to make sure I've gone through all the scenarios that they'll likely face. Youth baseball has changed a whole lot since I was a kid in terms of quality players.

I'd love to get back to making videos, but I am WIPED out at the end of the long day. 5 and a half hours of sleep isn't cutting it.

Some other things that have come up. A Pharma company has approached my company (very small) about conducting clinical trials for them. I was very honest with them that I'm not set up like a lab, but am mobile with our home sleep tests. They asked if I can make something happen within 2 month (get a lab up and running for the testing). He said I came highly recommended, but that's because the other labs in town turned him down!!! LOL!!! I'm sloppy thirds. The contract would be life changing for me and my family. I am by no means wealthy, so this is going to be a major leap of faith for the initial investment that I'm going to have to make for rental space, furnishings, and repair of a critical piece of equipment for one of my PSG components (a fiber optic to ethernet converter).

I'm honestly so stressed out right now!!!! Everything good for me has happened when I pushed on after wanting to quit. I've never wanted to quit more with this project, but I know that this is an opportunity that I can't pass up.

Man....someone snap me out of this and tell me to quit being such a *****!!!! (<------that could be anything ;) )

On a positive note, my back is still hairy.....so that's kind of cool. :|

I don't know you real well Jason, but your a good guy! You helped me when the first sleep clinic I went to wouldn't. You answered a couple private messages for me. I'm finally doing a lot better because my new primary made me go to a new sleep clinic(annoyed at 1st... I swore I was done with sleep doctors) and wow what a difference....he found out I have have several sleep disorders and is treating the whole pic and not just sleep apnea. But you helped me when I was pretty depressed and very appreciated . Definitely got to coach the team... You and your son will remember this your whole lives. And the contract do what is best for you and your family ( it's a no brainer)...and try and get some sleep (haha). I'm sure you will get back to making videos 1 day . I'm thankful you have helped me , but family first always .

Oh, no dear, you're not sloppy! A bit unkempt at times, but certainly not sloppy.

Snap out of it, you big weenie... it hasn't killed you, so, as the saying goes, it'll make you stronger. So the videos have to wait... you'll get through this and come out better than ever.

Hi Jason,
I imagine you are a wonderful coach for your son's team! They're lucky to have you! Of course you want your team to be the best possible- but at the end of the day it's a game, and it's kids, and being a healthy unstressed dad for your boy is the priority.

As to Pharma has comma knocking- I do not trust these companies.

1)I hope you have had a lawyer look over any contract or agreement they've given you.
2)It seems to me like an awfully big initial investment on your part for ...? Are they contributing financially to the setting up of the lab?

I don't know what the pay off is that they're offering you. But I do know you're a stand up guy, and that you would want to make sure their motives are good.

If I were you I'd find out:

What exactly is the trial for?
Why did the other labs turn them down?
Will you be glad to have invested in ramping up your business after the trial is over?

It's important to not jump at things that seem like opportunities without investigating every angle thoroughly.

Just my two cents.

:-))

Life is like a mountain which you have to climb. The uphill race is tiresome but you can make it feel like you're enjoying it.

Try this. Sit down in a quiet area and grab some paper and a pen. Divide the sheet into two columns. The left column is for reasons you would like to this new project; the right column is for reasons you would not like to do this project. Don't deal with the financial aspects yet, just your thoughts about likes and dislikes of the project.

Now, with another piece of paper make the same columns. This time deal with the financial aspects of the projects; list realistic expectations of the gains and of the initial output to get the project going.

Now, put those pages in a drawer. Come back the next day and review the pages. What does your logical self tell you to do.

And, don't forget another very important aspect, talk to your family about the commitments and possible sacrifices you and they may have to make.

Good luck!

Make sure family time figures heavily into this. Time goes exponentially faster the older you and they get. So many guys race thru their career and promotions getting to the top and when they retire they find they don't really know their family as well as they should. I applaud you for being coach. Don't let anything jeopardize that quality family time.

We've made it through the busy All-Star season and went much farther than people thought that we would. Scrappy group of kids that were hungry for a chance....and a coach that capitalized on and possibly increased the size of the chip on their shoulder as a motivator. :)

Big Pharma has moved on...but now my desire to have my own brick and mortar sleep diagnostics lab is back strong. I'm almost wondering if I should rent a small space and run a 1 or 2 bed lab and keep the prices really low...but still not accepting insurance.

I need to get back to making some videos soon. It's too enjoyable and my older son thinks its fun editing. My younger son has started making movies with lego men. I SWEAR I didn't show him any of the ones I made!!! DNA is a powerful thing.
