Hi All....Have had sleep apnea for decades but was diagnosed with "depression and chronic insomnia". Three, count 'em, THREE trips to the psych hospital over a 23 year period all prefaced with terrible bouts of insomnia. The treatment was therapy and 23 years on antidepressants to force me to sleep. Until now. FINALLY had a sleep study done. OFF the charts numbers. Worst results my doc had ever seen. The good news- have been able to wean off antidepressant and the depression is GONE. This is a miracle. Such a sad story of misdiagnosis BUT here I am...numbers after three months on CPAP are down in the 5-6 AHI range from a glorious starter of 81. Still do not sleep through the night but getting there. My question: for two of my three months on CPAP I have had the sensation of something stuck in my throat. At first my neck was pretty sore but that stopped and now I just feel like something is stuck. Like swallowing a pill and it actually did go down but the sensation remains. Thoughts? Oh and yeah- I need a hug.

Which DreamStation machine are you using? There is a model number on the bottom of the blower and it starts with DSX...? What are the numbers after DSX?

Are you also experiencing dry mouth issues? Throat issues below the mouth are uncommon unless someone is doing a lot of mouth breathing which can really dry out the mouth and throat.

Sending you a big cyber hug....hope it helps.

I always say yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. All we have is today and tomorrow. My husband used to say that he would wait for me to breathe at night! I am a nurse and used to say, "if I ever have to wear one those things just shoot me,...hahaha!". Well now, with other health issues it is not so funny. And I do have to wear one of those things. We recently bought a fancy bed with dual controls (like 2 twin beds together), so we can each adjust the head and feet. I find I breathe better with the head elevated a bit. Life is precious, good luck. Consider this an electronic hug!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY! I HAVE A DSX500T11C

NO DRY MOUTH ISSUES. I DO HAVE ISSUES WITH DAIRY THAT CAUSE MY SINUSES WITH CPAP TO GET FUNKY AT NIGHT. STARTED A PLANT BASED DIET YESTERDAY AND HAD NO NASAL CRAP AND....A WONDERFUL SLEEP LAST NIGHT! THROAT AT THE MOMENT FEELS WAY BETTER.

Sending you a big cyber hug....hope it helps.

IT DID! JUST TALKING ABOUT IT WAS A GIANT STEP FORWARD.

WONDERFUL ADVICE ABOUT THE BEDS. THANK YOU FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT AND ESPECIALLY THE HUG.
